Bear Grylls and President Obama share a meal in Alaska
President Obama joined survival expert Bear Grylls in Alaska for a special programme Running Wild.
The episode was filmed in September with the aim of drawing attention to climate change.
Obama was accompanied by a team of about 50 Secret Service personnel during the day-long trek.
The episode aired in the US on NBC on 17 December and in India it on Discovery Channel on 31st December 2015
President Obama is heading into the wilderness in his upcoming appearance on “Running Wild With Bear Grylls,” and in a new clip for the episode, it seems he can stomach anything
The sneak peek shows the president declaring his nervousness about eating with the survival expert as they venture into Alaskan wilderness. “I’ve seen some of the stuff Bear eats, and it’s gotta be something that doesn’t still have its legs and eyes on it. I want it not to be too recognizable,” Obama said.
And what Grylls pulls out of his backpack is luckily familiar. It just happens to be fresh Alaskan salmon that was partially eaten by a bear. Being the foodie that he is, the president rated the meal as “tasty.” The chef, on the other hand, was unimpressive.
“Bear’s a mediocre cook, but the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging,” he said. “Now, the fact that he told me this was a leftover fish from a bear, I don’t know if that was necessary. He could have just left that out.”
