Tata Nano already has many records under its belt, and there is yet another one which has joined the league. The new Tata Nano Twist XE variant has been launched in India at a price tag of
INR 2.06 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) which makes it the cheapest car to come along with a power steering. The first versions of Nano had complaints about a heavy steering and hence a youth-centered version with power steering was launched last year in the form of Twist XT (XT -Xtreme Edition). Yes, swanier Twist XT enjoyed the feat of being the cheapest car with a power steering and now the title is with the new XE version which is around a good INR 40,000 cheaper . Let’s find out what all has facilitated the price reduction.
Starting with the Exteriors, the Twist XE misses out on the two lively XT colors, the Damson Purple and Dazzle Blue and is available only in 3 colors, namely the Pearl White, Meteor Silver and Royal Gold. There is more apart from the missing color options as the Twist XE lacks body colored bumpers, door handles, and front and rear chrome strips. The front fog lamps are also deleted from the features list. That is not all, the XE will also miss out on roof beading, roof spoiler and a roof mounted antenna.
There are differences once one steps in as well, more aptly just before one steps in, as the Tata Nano XE will miss out on the keyless entry feature, which is available only in the XT version. The dash integrated music system has been done away with to reduce costs and so have the features aimed at convenience like heater, front power windows, 12V power socket and magazine and coin holders.
Apart from the functional and cosmetic changes mentioned above, there is no change in the power train or any other mechanical component. It is powered by the same 624 cc two cylinder petrol engine which churns out 38 hp and 51 Nm torque.
